Wedding Registry

Dear Friends and Family, here is a list of places Will and I registered at. We did our best to choose stores that are easily accessible to all folks across the States. There's enough variety here for everyone to get creative and give us what they're comfortable with. We can't wait to pull our home together with your help, thank you so much!

Any gifts mailed prior to or after the wedding can be sent to:

Will Robison
c/o Alloy
151 W. 26th St.
11th Fl.
New York, NY. 10001

SILVER
Pattern: "Chippendale"

Beverly Bremer Silver Shop
3164 Peachtree Rd., NE
Atlanta, GA. 30305
www.beverlybremer.com
1-800-270-4009
(404) 261-4009

Unfortunately, Bevery Bremer does not have online registy. However, friends and family are welcome to visit or call the store to find out what we have specifically registered for.

--------------------------------------------------
CHINA
Pattern: Herend "Chinese Bouquet Rust"

Mayors Buckhead
3225 Peachtree Rd.
Atlanta, GA. 30305

The woman we spoke to there was named Sandi Pressman, and is lovely. We are not specifically registered there, however Herend China is available. We also registered online, which will likely be MUCH easier for everyone. Here you can look up what pieces we especially love and order them directly. Here is the website information:

LINK: Deedy-Robison China Registry

You can also access the registry by going to www.giftcollector.com, going to "Registry Services" then "Find Registry." Enter the name "Deedy."

---------------------------------------------
STEMWARE:

The stemware Will and I have chosen is Venitian glass (Murano) and is somewhat difficult to order. For this reason, we would prefer a "Stemware Fund" which people can donate money to. Each glass is $280, which is another reason a Stemware Fund may work best. Hopefully we'll be able to start with one or two with the help of our families. Here's an image of the glass--it's called "Filigrana incalmata".

-------------------------------------------------
Branch

Branch is an online store dedicated to sustainable design. Visit their website at www.branchhome.com and look up our information under "Find Registry" and by entering Katie Deedy for the first and last name.

(Interesting stuff for home and kitchen)

-------------------------------------------------
Crate & Barrel

www.crateandbarrel.com
Look up Registry and enter "Katherine Deedy" for name with the date of March 3, 2007.

(Good kitchen stuff, appliances, bedding, glass accessories, flatware, etc.)

--------------------------------------------------
Amazon.com

Wanna buy us something educational? We're itchin' for some books to build up our collection, and it's a chance to share some knowledge. We LOVE books. Go to:

http://www.amazon.com/registry/wedding/D52WZNTWX660

(or scroll down to "Gifts and Lists" on the Amazon main page, click "wedding registry" and enter "katie deedy" for name and "March" and GA" for month and state.

---------------------------------------------------
Macy's

www.macys.com
Click "Wedding Registry" in the top right corner and enter "Katherine Deedy" for the name.

(Casual china, bedding, other stuff for the home)

---------------------------------------------------
Moss Gallery

We know this is really out there, but since it's a wedding we figured we'd go all out and register for some pricey stuff we really want but could never afford. It was tons of fun. Go to www.mossonline.com and click "Registry." Enter Katie Deedy again for first and last name.

SuperSac

Living in Brooklyn means we have no space and really can't ask for furniture. There is one thing, however, that Will and I have been lusting over. It's called a SuperSac and is available at www.lovesac.com. We'd love this for our couch--the livingroom is tiny. The SuperSac with cover is about $400. This is another donation situation...I promise we'll use this sucker every day.

MARTA and Transportation

First of all, to everyone traveling (especially from New York), please take a look at www.airtran.com before booking a flight. I fly this regularly between Atlanta and NYC, and tickets are usually around $80-90 each way. Delta is also based in Atlanta, but catching Airtran during a ticket special will get you there cheapest.

Although Atlanta is a driving city, there's a way to get around renting a car if you're not carrying too much luggage and don't mind a little walk (NYers, this is you). From Atlanta's Hartsfield airport, MARTA can take you straight to Decatur. MARTA is Atlanta's rapid transit system, and while it won't carry you to all the nooks and crannies of Atlanta, it will work if you're planning on staying within Decatur for your visit. Travelers should pick it up at the airport (the last stop on the South Line) and take it to Five Points (the main MARTA hub). Switch here to East Line, and take it to the Decatur station. Once off MARTA, you're about a 5-10 minute walk form the Holiday Inn and the ceremony site. The Decatur MARTA station is located on Church Street between Trinity and Sycamore, just behing the Old Courthouse (ceremony site). There are usually taxis hovering outside of the station which can also take you to your hotel (this is best for anyone staying at Motel 8). Once at the hotel, all the shops, restaurants and bars of Decatur are within walking distance. I believe MARTA costs about $1.75 per ride.

For car rental, here's a list of companies located within the airport plus contact numbers:

Avis----------------(404) 530-2725
Budget--------------(404) 530-3000
Dollar Rent A Car---1(866) 434-2226
Enterprise----------(404) 763-5220
Hertz---------------(404) 530-2925
National/Alamo------(404) 530-2800
Thrifty Car Rental--(770) 996-2350

Accomodations

There are several places in downtown Decatur for guests to stay. Rooms will be held at the Holiday Inn Select Decatur, which is located just two blocks from the Old Courthouse (the ceremony site). Rates for the hotel are from $108-129 per night, and will be reserved under the names "Deedy" and "Robison" for the wedding. The hotel is clean and huge, and can accommodate as many as necessary. The hotel also offers room service, an indoor pool and a workout center.

Another option is the Super 8 Motel in Decatur, which is much cleaner and comfortable than it sounds. Price per night is from $58-65, but is further away from MARTA and the ceremony site.

Lastly, the Sycamore House Bed & Breakfast is a family-run B&B located several blocks (but within walking distance) of the ceremony site. Rates here are from $110 - $125, and there are three separate rooms available. Call early, as rooms will not be reserved at the B&B and it's cozy.

Location

The wedding will take place at the Old Courthouse on the Square in Decatur, GA. Decatur is a beautiful, comfortable and historic city within Atlanta's parameter. There are dozens of shops, restaurants and bars withing walking distance of the Courthouse, which means--unless you prefer to have one--you won't need a car. Here's a list of my favorite places that are easy to get too. All establishments that serve food and alcohol are completely kid friendly, unless otherwise noted.

Restaurants and Bars:

Java Monkey- Fun and cozy independent coffee shop, much better than Starbucks (although there's one of those around the corner, too)
The Brick Store- Great pub food and huge beer and single malt scotch collection
Crescent Moon- The best breakfast place in the neighborhood
Mellow Mushroom Pizza- My fave GA pizza
Noodle- Delicious pan-Asian with a great atmosphere
Raging Burrito- huge, yummy, laid-back. Small bar within with a great ATL beer selection
Sage- More upscale, but super delish
Birdi's- Good and affordable American food, fun atmosphere, more of a martini bar after ten pm.
Sushi Avenue
Taco Mac- ATL area chain with bar food and super extensive beer list. Always some kind of sport playing on their various TVs. (Bar and restaurant, kid friendly during the day)
Trackside Tavern- My favorite bar in Decatur. Kind of a dive, but super laid back with pool and darts (bar, not kid friendly)
Twain's Billiards and Tap- Big pool hall, clean and fun (bar, not kid friendly)
Viet Chateau- DELISH Vietnamese!
Watershed- Owned by the Indigo Girls, this is incredible--if somewhat pricey--Southern food.

(For a full list of Decatur area restaurants, click here).

Shops:

Honestly, there are so many you may just need to walk around. Most are small and independently owned, which means you'll find tons of fantastic stuff.

What in the World

It's been the strangest year. I think Will and I can both honestly say that we had no idea what would come of our chance meeting in Brooklyn last September 2005. It was evening and he was walking his dog on our street--because as chance would have it, we had been living a block away from each other on Hooper St. for over seven months. As he and Meche stood at the end of the block, I was strolling home from the corner bodega with an ice cold bottle of Poland Spring to hit the sack with. Neither of us really remember how we entered into conversation, nor can we believe that just two weeks later we decided to get married ("decided" not being the correct word--we realized without a doubt that we had to be together and now). After three months of nausea and lovesickness, we were officially engaged at a food-fueled Noche Buena with my family, and everything has continued to be a blur. Somehow a Texan and a Georgian ended up on the same block in South Williamsburg, NY, and after a lifetime of waiting we're READY. William and I can't be thankful enough for our wonderful parents and families who we now consider part of a greater clan, and look forward to spending our wedding day with all you crazy Cubans, Southerners and best of friends. March 3rd, bring it on!
